Selection Process 2026: Step-by-Step
The selection for the District Judge post is rigorous and
consists of three stages. Candidates must qualify in each stage to move to the

Stage 1: Preliminary Written Examination (Screening Test)
- Type: Objective type (Multiple Choice Questions).

3. Restriction on Practice
At the time of appointment, the candidate must give an
undertaking that for a period of two years from the date on which he/she
ceases to be in service, he/she will not practice in any Court over which
he/she had presided or the Courts subordinate thereto.
4. Disqualifications
- Candidates with more than two living children (with
specific exceptions under the Maharashtra Civil Services Rules) are
disqualified.
- Candidates who have been convicted for an offence involving
moral turpitude.
- Candidates who have been compulsorily retired, removed, or
