Loud Beep on Your Phone Today? Don’t Panic – India’s Emergency Alert System Test Explained
People have been disappearing from different areas of Delhi for the last 21 days. The most concerning aspect is that most cases show no clear pattern. According to police, 2-3 reports of missing persons have been coming in daily from February 15 till today.
22-year-old Aryan (name changed) left home for the library on February 24 and never returned. Surprisingly, he left without his phone and wallet, which was not his normal habit. The family says he had no depression or family problems.
34-year-old Priyanka (name changed) disappeared while returning from office. Her car was found parked near her residential society, but she was nowhere to be found. Her phone was found switched off. Police found her handbag and office ID in her car, making it clear she didn't leave intentionally.
Rahul (name changed) disappeared while returning from school after getting into an auto. CCTV footage shows him entering the auto, but the license plate isn't visible. The auto driver hasn't been found yet.
According to Delhi Police sources, they are working on these possibilities:
Police have said that no family has received any ransom call so far, which raises questions about the kidnapping theory.
Dr. Rajiv Saxena (Former Police Officer and Missing Persons Expert) says: "I haven't seen such a strange pattern in my 30-year career. Usually people disappear, but so many people in such a short time without any clues - this is very unusual. I think some organized group is working."
Dr. Anita Mehra (Psychologist) believes: "Post-Covid mental health issues have increased significantly. Some people might have disappeared voluntarily, but not all. And such a large number of voluntary disappearances also seems unlikely."
Amit Sharma, father of Aryan from Rohini, told us: "It's been 12 days. Our life has come to a standstill. Police are trying, but nothing has been found yet. Where is my son, how is he, who is he with - we don't know anything. We've lost sleep."
Neha from Saket (Priyanka's sister) says with tears in her voice: "My sister was always responsible. She never went anywhere without informing. She has a 5-year-old son who asks about his mother every day. What should we tell him?"
The hashtag #FindDelhiMissing is trending on Twitter and Facebook. People are sharing photos and details of missing people. Some volunteer groups have also been formed that are helping police in search operations.
Several groups have also been created on WhatsApp where people are sharing information. Police have appealed to people not to spread fake news and share only verified information.
This matter has also created a stir in political circles. Opposition parties have raised questions about Delhi's law and order situation. Meanwhile, the ruling party says that police are fully active and will soon solve this mystery.
The Delhi government has said that it will provide every possible help to the police. The CM office has also called a special meeting in which police officers and home department officials will participate.
The mystery that has been going on in Delhi for the last 21 days remains unsolved. Police say they expect some breakthroughs soon. The special task force has also taken some suspects into custody and their interrogation is ongoing.
Until a solution to this mystery is found, fear will remain in the minds of Delhi residents. Parents are worried about their children, and new questions are being raised about women's safety.
Who is behind these disappearances? Is it some organized gang or something else? Police investigation is trying to find answers to this question.
